# Talk to Balt

> Where to write to Balt and how to ask.

Write to Balt as you would to a colleague: one sentence is enough. He asks a question if something is missing.

## Where to write to him

| Where | When |
| - | - |
| In a direct message | A task for you alone: prepare a document, look something up, draft a reply. |
| In a channel, by mentioning him | A task that concerns the team. Balt replies in the thread. |
| In the console | The same conversation, with your past exchanges under **Recent**. |

## A few requests to start with

* "What can you do for me?"
* "Sum up my meetings every morning."
* "Draft a reply to this email."
* "Every Friday, tell me what our competitors announced."

A request that comes back can become a [routine](https://docs.hire-balt.com/en/routines): Balt then does it alone, without being chased.

## When Balt asks for your go-ahead

Before sending anything outside the company, Balt shows you what he is about to do and waits for your go-ahead. You choose what he does alone and what he asks about, tool by tool, in [What Balt does alone](https://docs.hire-balt.com/en/integrations/actions.md).
